OVERVIEW
The SchoolReach Provincial Tournament is a one-day event. Winners are crowned the official champions of Schoolreach BC and get to take home the coveted championsip trophy. The Senior Tournament is the only qualifier for the National Tournament. There is no National Tournament at the Intermediate Level.
FORMAT
- Tournament starts with group games and then proceeds to knockout.
- Group games are round robin Format.
- Seedings for the draw are determined by League Standings as they are on the date of the tournament.
- Each team plays 4 round robin games.
- Top two teams from each group plus the two third-place teams with highest point average advance to knockout.
- If one of the groups has more teams than other, then the third-place teams are compared based on their performance against the best x number of teams where x is equal to the number of teams in the smallest group.
- Knockout is seeded as follows: group winners are seeded 1-3 in order of point average. group runners-up are seeded 4-6. Third place teams are seeed 7-8.
- Top-ranked teams advance to single-elimination knockout tournament (either 8 or 16 teams).

READER AND SCORER GUIDE
As a coach you may be asked to read for some of the games. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules of Schoolreach, including (but not limited to) the following:- PAPER USE : Paper is allowed for all questions, including spelling and mathematics.
- INTERRUPTION : Players may buzz at any time during the question. Stop reading as soon as someone buzzes in. Only continue if they get it wrong.
- ONCE ONLY : Repeating questions is not allowed.
- NO HINTS : Do not give hints to the answer, including by using tone of voice or any other means. For example, if a question gives lyrics to a song, do not sing the melody.
- ADHERE TO TIME RULES:
- Five seconds after question is read to buzz in.
- Once a player buzzes, they must answer within 1-2 seconds. Do not give time to "think" or "recall".
- Three seconds after first team buzzes (and question is completed) to buzz in.
- Certain questions that require computation may be given more time by the reader.
QUALIFYING FOR NATIONALS
- Typicaly, top three teams advance to Nationals (Seniors only).
- If a team is unable to attend the Nationals, an invitation may be extended to the next highest ranked team.
